The murder of Iván Tomás Luis Villaseca—a transport sector leader affiliated with the *Confederación Joven de México* (Young Confederation of Mexico)—along with the discovery of two additional bodies inside the union’s offices in San Sebastián Tutla, marks a new escalation in the violence currently plaguing the transport sector in Oaxaca.

The State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) confirmed the deaths of the three men—including the union leader—and announced that it has opened investigation file No. 8668/UEIH/2026 on charges of aggravated homicide, assigning the case to the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for High-Impact Crimes.

According to the FGE’s statement and reports from local media, the incident occurred around 10:28 p.m. on Thursday, April 16, when armed individuals attacked Luis Villaseca at the intersection of Camino Nacional and Privada de los Nogales—one of the main thoroughfares in the municipality of San Sebastián Tutla. After sustaining a gunshot wound, he was transported to the Panamericana Clinic, where he was pronounced dead.
