The Washington Post (WP) reported that, as of November 11, 2025, three attacks had been carried out against suspected drug boats off the coast of Acapulco, Guerrero, since the Trump administration launched a new phase in the war on drugs in September of that year.
According to the report, titled “Mapping US Attacks in the Caribbean and Eastern Pacific,” a total of 19 confirmed operations against suspected drug traffickers had been carried out in the Caribbean Sea and the Eastern Pacific Ocean. Of these attacks, 76 people were killed.
The investigation, authored by journalist Amaya Verde, detailed that nine attacks had been reported in the Eastern Pacific Ocean, while ten had occurred in the Caribbean Sea. A map shared by the US media outlet showed that three of the US attacks in the eastern Pacific Ocean occurred off the coast of Acapulco. However, it did not provide the dates of the deployments or the specific locations.
According to the US newspaper, of the 19 attacks carried out by the US government, the approximate locations of three cases had not yet been confirmed, and therefore were not shown on the map. Only 16 of these operations in the Caribbean Sea and the eastern Pacific Ocean were visible.
