A Mexican worker identified as Julio César Soto Jr. was murdered last weekend in Edinburg, Texas (United States). The case has generated great commotion because it was revealed that the perpetrator of the crime was his best friend, a man identified as Freddy Mireles, who unexpectedly shot his victim with a rifle while they were singing corridos at a gathering. As expected, the case has caused great commotion among the Hispanic community.

According to information released by the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office in Texas, it was on the night of Sunday, August 17, when they received a report of a person shot inside a home marked 4513 on Fe Drive in the city of Edinburg. As soon as officers arrived at the home, three people were already waiting to testify about what happened.

According to statements from those who witnessed the murder of Julio César Soto Jr., whose identities have not been revealed, they had a meeting at the aforementioned address on Sunday night. At some point, they played corridos and sang while drinking alcoholic beverages.

However, unexpectedly and apparently for no reason, Freddy Mireles grabbed a rifle and shot Julio César Soto Jr. in the face, killing him immediately, as seen in a video provided to authorities by one of the witnesses.

After committing the crime, Freddy Mireles fled in his red Corvette, which was identified the following morning. This led to the arrest of the 32-year-old man, who was found in possession of the rifle with which he killed Julio César Soto Jr., as well as another handgun.

Following Freddy Mireles’ initial hearing, it was reported that he will remain in the Hidalgo County Adult Detention Center. A $2.5 million bond was set for him. It was also reported that the necessary steps are underway to prosecute him for homicide.

At this time, the possible motive for the murder of Julio César Soto Jr. by Freddy Mireles, who had been his best friend for at least three years, is unknown. The Mexican worker’s family said they are dismayed and extremely confused, as their relationship with the individual responsible for the crime had always been good.
