The mayor of Colipa, Veracruz, Morena party member Gabriela Alejandra Ortega Molina, was detained by SEMAR (Semar) and the Mexican Army during a search of a ranch allegedly owned by José Gil Quintero, nephew of drug lord Rafael Caro Quintero and leader of the Caborca Cartel.
The incident occurred in the town of Vega de Alatorre. According to unofficial sources, the mayor was detained at the Quintero Ranch for several hours but was later released after a few calls. No further details about her legal status have been released.
The Secretary of Government, Ricardo Ahued, had confirmed the conduct of operations and searches on several properties in the region.
Everything indicates that the military mobilization is related to the search for Neptalí González, a 35-year-old businessman who was recently kidnapped in the Laguna Verde area.
So far, Mayor Gabriela Ortega has not issued any official statement on the matter, opting instead to post images of a community support event on her social media.
The official’s legal status remains unclear, and authorities have not provided further information about the ongoing investigation.
