In the municipality of Yecapixtla, Morelos, sources close to the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) identified the man killed in a targeted armed attack as “El Bomba.”
According to investigations, the individual oversaw hit-squad operations for a criminal group active in the eastern region of the state.
Authorities noted that the man was on the state’s list of priority targets due to his alleged involvement in various acts of violence within municipalities bordering the State of Mexico.
At the scene, forensic experts specializing in homicide investigations recovered at least eight spent shell casings, which have been added to the case file.
Residents of the Punta del Valle housing development stated that the criminal leader lived in the complex.
They also recalled that, months earlier, federal and state security forces had carried out an operation at the property in an attempt to capture him; however, residents did not formally report his presence, fearing reprisals.
Following the recovery of the body by the Forensic Medical Service (SEMEFO), the FGE is pursuing several lines of investigation to locate those responsible.
Meanwhile, security forces have increased patrols at the entrances to the municipality and have urged the public to use anonymous tip lines to report any suspicious activity.
