The lifeless body of a man bearing extreme signs of torture was discovered on the morning of Thursday, July 2, 2026, at the southern end of the municipality of Escuinapa, Sinaloa. The discovery was made near the well-known “Capilla del Gallo” (Rooster’s Chapel) on the Mazatlán-Tepic highway, along the stretch leading to the exit for the community of Tecualilla.

At approximately 5:30 a.m., municipal police officers conducting patrols and crime prevention rounds in the southern sector of the municipal seat noticed a bundle on the side of the road, next to the religious site.

Upon exiting their patrol vehicles to inspect the area, the officers confirmed the death of a male who was wearing only shorts. The victim was handcuffed and showed severe signs of physical violence, including a deep stab wound that left his chest cavity exposed.

Beside the body, security forces found an intimidating message from the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) written on the lid of a Styrofoam cooler. The text explicitly warned:

“For those who think ‘El Güero Pin’ is still in charge: Ramiro is in charge here, and this is how you will all end up.”

Ramiro is a CJNG commander who has moved into southern Sinaloa. “El Güero Pin” was a local boss for the “Los Chapitos” (or “Chapiza”) faction in southern Sinaloa who had been arrested on June 25. Municipal police, acting as first responders, immediately cordoned off the area while awaiting the arrival of personnel from the Sinaloa State Attorney General’s Office.
