The capture occurred on December 21, the same day there were roadblocks in Escuinapa, a municipality near Mazatlán. In less than a week, the Sinaloa Cartel faction has lost several key figures through arrests and assassinations.
The Los Chapitos faction has suffered a major blow to its structure in less than a week, with the assassination and arrest of gunmen and financial operators in Sinaloa and Jalisco, including Mario Lindoro Elenes, father-in-law of Iván Archivaldo Guzmán Salazar—son of Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán and leader of the Los Chapitos faction—who was captured in Jalisco in an operation involving the National Defense, the Navy, the Attorney General’s Office, the National Guard, and the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection.
In addition to the 69-year-old man, three other people were arrested, including Carlos Gabriel Reynoso García, a criminal leader in the port city involved in drug trafficking, vehicle theft, and homicide, along with Jesús Arturo Dávalos Valenzuela, who was with him.
“In the state of Sinaloa, as a result of inter-institutional coordination to apprehend those responsible for generating violence, a man leading a criminal cell with a presence in the region and with three outstanding arrest warrants was located in Mazatlán. Agents conducted an operation and identified him in the Los Caracoles neighborhood while he was traveling in a vehicle with another person,” an official statement indicated.
“Officers signaled them to stop, and during a security check, they found two firearms, 51 rounds of ammunition, a bag of marijuana, and radio and telephone equipment. The two men, ages 37 and 40, were arrested.”
The arrest occurred on December 21, the day of roadblocks in Escuinapa, a municipality near Mazatlán, but it wasn’t made public until this Tuesday. The arrests also took place in Jalisco, where authorities identified two residences in the municipality of Zapopan that served as hideouts for Mario Alfredo Lindoro Navidad, 44, and Mario Lindoro Elenes, 69, brother-in-law and father-in-law of Archivaldo Iván Guzmán, respectively, as well as financial operators for Los Chapitos.
At the residences, authorities seized four firearms, doses of drugs, three high-end vehicles, cell phones, and electronic equipment.
