Irma Hernández, a retired teacher and taxi driver imprisoned in Álamo Temapache, died of a heart attack, said Veracruz Governor Rocío Abel García.

Rocio Nahle García said the teacher’s body was found inside a building located on land in the north of the state, near the municipality where she disappeared.
The official explained the situation, and the causes of her death were confirmed by forensic personnel from the Veracruz State Attorney General’s Office (FGE).
She assured that there will be no impunity in this or any other case of extortion and intentional homicide perpetrated in Veracruz, and to this end, they are working hand in hand with the Federation and the Attorney General’s Office (FGR).
“Soldiers entered a remote property in the northern area, near Álamo, and found vehicles, vests, and weapons. They noticed the Army and police were arriving, and they abandoned the site,” she stated.
The FGE was in charge of removing the body, and ministerial and forensic personnel continue the investigation into the retired teacher, who was kidnapped on July 18 and then forced to record a video in which she called on taxi drivers to pay their dues so that what happened to her wouldn’t happen to her.
The body was found in the community of Tepeczintlilla.
“Unfortunately, the teacher’s body was found in a semi-shack (…) she was assaulted. Forensic experts are telling us that it appears she suffered a heart attack as a result of the attacks,” she commented in a telephone interview with a local radio station.
She specified that members of the Ministry of Defense (Defense) were the first to arrive at the land where the kidnapped teacher was found.
High-caliber weapons were also found at the scene, as well as other items allegedly belonging to members of organized crime.
Irma’s body arrived at the Pueblo Nuevo ejido in Álamo Temapache on the evening of Thursday, July 24, for a wake and burial.
