Federal authorities arrested Saúl “N,” alias “SS,” the head of a criminal cell of the Beltrán Leyva Cartel, in Tijuana, Baja California. He was considered a major source of violence in the region and was linked to drug trafficking to the United States, particularly fentanyl and methamphetamine.
The operation, which also resulted in the arrest of Horacio “N,” identified as “SS’s” head of security, involved the Mexican Army (Sedena), Navy (Semar), Attorney General’s Office (FGR), National Guard (GN), and the Baja California State Police (SSPC). Authorities located the suspect at a residence after surveillance and monitoring operations.
“Operational actions were intensified in the area, where, after being intercepted and his identity verified, he was arrested along with a man who was accompanying him, acting as his bodyguard,” the Federal Security Cabinet reported in a joint statement. The statement also indicated that during the arrest, firearms, drugs, cell phones, and the property where they were hiding were seized.
“The detainees were informed of their legal rights and, along with the seized items, were turned over to the appropriate Public Prosecutor, who will determine their legal status and continue with the subsequent investigations,” the Mexican government stated.
