Social Media Campaign Urges Miguel Bosé to Not Appear at Culiacán National Celebration

Facebook users launched a campaign urging Spanish artist Miguel Bosé not to perform at the Grito de Intendencia celebrations. This stems from the public’s dissatisfaction with Governor Rubén Rocha Moya’s decision to impose the event despite the ongoing insecurity in the capital of Sinaloa.

The announcement of the artists who will attend the September 15th celebration was made just this Wednesday, September 10th. According to data from the state Attorney General’s Office, eight people were murdered in Sinaloa on that same day.

Following the announcement of the Grito celebration, citizens launched a social media campaign requesting its cancellation, while others are promoting its boycott.

This campaign was posted on Miguel Bosé’s official account before his presence in Culiacán was confirmed on this site.

Hours later, more users on that same page urged the Spanish performer not to attend the event in solidarity with the families affected by the wave of violence caused by the Sinaloa cartel’s internal war, which has lasted a year.

The event was announced for December 15th, and along with Miguel Bosé, artists Marisela and El Coyote have been booked.

In 2024, the event was canceled due to threats from the same cartel and the increasing escalation of violence in the city. That year, the Palenque de Culiacán and the Livestock Fair were also canceled, events that were also canceled this year due to unsafe conditions.
