Andrea Sánchez Maya, the alleged sister-in-law of “El Mate,” leader of La Unión Tepito, who is currently wanted by authorities, was arrested by officers of the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) for coordinating extortion carried out by members of La Unión Tepito against workers in downtown Mexico City.
According to the National Registry of Detentions (RND), the arrest was made by state police at 3:18 a.m. on Friday, November 7, 2025, in the Gustavo A. Madero borough, in the Vallejo neighborhood, between Caruso and Tetrazini streets.
The accused is currently being held at the Santa Martha Acatitla Women’s Federal Social Reintegration Center (CEFERESO).
El Mate is the sister of El Irving, the alleged leader of La Unión Tepito. According to reports from different years, Axel was arrested in 2020 by the Secretariat of Citizen Security after assaulting a person in the Cuauhtémoc borough of Mexico City.
Along with him, 19-year-old Brayan “N” was also arrested. Both were involved in drug trafficking and extortion.
