Silvana Torres murdered her 2-year-old daughter, Antonella, last Saturday, July 26th, and subsequently attempted suicide. However, she was unsuccessful and was taken to a hospital where she received medical attention. Just over two weeks after this tragedy, it came to light that the 19-year-old mother was almost lynched by her own neighbors. However, she managed to escape the attacks thanks to two key actions.

This new aspect surrounding the high-profile filicide case that occurred in the San Sebastián Residential Complex, located in the municipality of Manizales in the department of Caldas, Colombia, was revealed by Magola Valencia, a friend and neighbor of Silvana Torres, who offered various details about the 19-year-old mother’s family and personal life in a podcast called “Más Allá del Silencio.”

In the podcast, Magola Valencia stated that on Saturday, July 26, Silvana Torres took advantage of her mother’s visit to her sister in the apartment across the street to lock the door and be alone with her daughter. She then took a knife from the kitchen and slit her daughter’s throat. She then attempted to take her own life with the same knife, but was unsuccessful. Once her mother heard both of their screams, she realized what had happened and went into shock. This alerted other neighbors, who forced the door open to assist them as they still had vital signs. They also called emergency services, which arrived at the crime scene within minutes.

Magola Valencia stated that once the emergency services arrived, they were responsible for removing little Antonella from the apartment. Her vital signs were already extremely weak due to the large amount of blood she had lost. She even noted that when the girl was carried by a paramedic, she “looked like a rag doll” due to the abrupt way her body shook with each stride. However, as is well known, the girl died in the hospital minutes later.

Magola Valencia also stated that when the paramedics removed Silvana Torres, the situation became complicated when her neighbors began insulting and attacking her. However, the 19-year-old was protected by police officers. She also noted that she had to pretend to be unconscious to avoid being lynched.
