Sheinbaum spoke by phone with Pope Leo XIV, reiterating her invitation to visit Mexico: “He sends blessings”

Mayor Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo reported that she spoke by phone this morning with Pope Leo XIV to reiterate her invitation for him to visit Mexico, coinciding with the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, commemorated every December 12.

On her social media account, the mayor posted a picture of the moment she spoke with the Pope, accompanied by the Secretary of the Interior, Rosa Icela Rodríguez, and Roberto Velasco, Undersecretary for North America and current Acting Secretary of Foreign Affairs.

Sheinbaum Pardo indicated that during the call, the Pope sent blessings and greetings to all Mexicans on the occasion of the Catholic celebration.

In the same post, she emphasized that they both agreed that, regardless of one’s religious affiliation, Our Lady of Guadalupe is a symbol of identity for Mexicans.

“On this very special day for the people of Mexico, I spoke by telephone with His Holiness Pope Leo XIV to invite him to visit our country.
