President Claudia Sheinbaum presented the Michoacán Plan for Peace and Justice, a comprehensive security strategy with an investment of over 57 billion pesos to guarantee the rights of the people of Michoacán to education, health, access to housing, and decent employment.
This plan aims to strengthen security in the state with the support of federal, state, and municipal forces, and its progress will be monitored every 15 days.
The governor announced this plan at her morning press conference on November 4, amidst protests over the assassination of the mayor of Uruapan, Carlos Manzo, which occurred on November 1.
Sheinbaum Pardo stated that it is a “comprehensive strategy” based on “the deep conviction that security is not sustained through wars, but through justice, development, and respect for life.”
This week, the federal government listened to the opinions of the affected municipalities and announced that, no later than the beginning of next week, concrete actions will be announced in security, justice, local development, environment, education, culture and sports.
