Sheinbaum: Mexico Will Demand ‘El Mayo’ Zambada’s Repatriation to Uphold Sovereignty

Jeffrey Lichtman, Ovidio Guzmán’s lawyer, once again criticized President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo after she asserted that they continue to “insist” on obtaining information from the United States regarding the capture of Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada one year after the events.

During her morning press conference this Thursday, the president was questioned by a journalist about whether Mexico will continue to request information on the arrest of the former Sinaloa Cartel leader, who claimed to have been kidnapped by Joaquín Guzmán López, son of “El Chapo” Guzmán, to be handed over to the United States.

“We continue to insist. It is obviously up to the United States government to provide all the information, but we will continue to insist,” the president assured.

Sheinbaum also commented that Mexico is willing to collaborate and coordinate with the United States to seek “mutual trust,” as it is necessary for both parties to do so.

Following her statements, some reports claimed that the president had said they would insist on bringing “El Mayo” to Mexico, prompting Ovidio Guzmán’s lawyer, Jeffrey Lichtman, to criticize Sheinbaum again.
