From Sinaloa, the most violent state in the country as a result of the dispute between Los Chapitos and Los Mayos, President Claudia Sheinbaum warned that “we will move forward because they cannot defeat us, they will not defeat us” in the fight against crime.

“There are some who would like to defeat us, who would like us to fail, but, you know? We never break down or give up. This requires courage in the conviction that we are doing the right thing, the just thing, the necessary thing, courage to always move forward.”

“Where did we learn that courage? From the people of Mexico, from Sinaloa, a dignified, hardworking people who always move forward,” she maintained.

Upon inaugurating the operating rooms and burn areas of the Sinaloa Children’s Hospital, the head of the Executive branch stated that those who want the 4T to fail “are going to be left wanting.”

Sheinbaum’s trip to Sinaloa occurred on the day Ovidio Guzmán López, known as El Ratón, pleaded guilty to four drug trafficking-related charges in a Chicago court.

In an unusual press conference in Culiacán prior to the inauguration ceremony at the hospital, the president described The statements of Jeffrey Lichtman, Ovidio’s lawyer, were “disrespectful.” He accused Mexico of allegedly favoring Ismael El Mayo Zambada at a press conference.

“The lawyer’s statements are totally disrespectful to the presidential institution… We do not establish relationships of collusion or complicity with anyone. The people of Mexico know this, and everyone knows it,” he countered.

Lichtman also questioned Mexico’s desire to participate in his client’s plea deal when the government of former President Andrés Manuel López Obrador “violated a bilateral agreement” with the US when it exonerated General Salvador Cienfuegos after requesting his extradition while he was being investigated for drug trafficking in that country.
