Sheinbaum Demands Evidence for Any Information El Mayo Offers in the US

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum requested evidence to prosecute those incriminated by Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada in light of a possible plea deal with the United States government.

“We, any information the United States government has, with evidence, can be submitted to the Attorney General’s Office, and we, or the Attorney General’s Office itself, can do what we say, “we” as a country, can have the Attorney General’s Office conduct its investigations and request an arrest warrant from the Judiciary. As long as there is evidence, we will always collaborate, but there must be evidence,” she stated when questioned by reporters.

Ismael Zambada is reportedly about to become an informant for the US government, and Mexico still has no information on how the drug lord arrived in the United States, without Mexican authorities being able to capture him, she recalled.

The above would be “Because there are precedents, there is the precedent of General Cienfuegos, let’s not forget, where there was an arrest in the United States; and then, when President López Obrador, through the Attorney General’s Office, requests evidence, they send the evidence and no evidence is found,” he mentioned.

Yesterday, August 18, it was reported in national media that Ismael ‘El Mayo’ Zambada had agreed to plead guilty at his next hearing in August, according to court documents.
