William Mebarak, 93, is hospitalized again as Shakira prepares to resume her world tour in the U.S. and Canada.

The Barranquilla-born singer, who is currently on a break from her ‘Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour’ before resuming in May in the United States and Canada, has not made any public statements regarding her father’s situation.

The health of William Mebarak Chadid, father of superstar Shakira, is once again a source of concern due to a new hospitalization.

According to information obtained by paparazzo Jordi Martín, the 93-year-old writer is reportedly in a “delicate state,” although the singer’s family has not confirmed this version.

Martín, who has closely followed the life of the Hips Don’t Lie singer, indicated that Mebarak’s health has worsened in recent hours.

In recent years, Shakira’s father has experienced serious health issues.

Through his YouTube channel and the television program El Gordo y La Flaca, Martín stated that he received a message alerting him to the severity of the situation: “Shakira’s father’s condition has worsened. He is very delicate… the word used in the message is: ‘Heads up, the father is very delicate,’” said the paparazzo, adding that the writer is going through a critical time.

It’s worth noting that William Mebarak’s health has been a recurring issue in recent years due to various medical complications. In 2022, he suffered a fall that caused a traumatic brain injury, marking the beginning of a series of health problems. Later, in 2023, he was diagnosed with hydrocephalus, a condition that required the implantation of a valve in Cartagena.

In June 2024, Shakira’s father faced another critical episode when he was urgently admitted to a clinic in Barranquilla due to pneumonia. During that period, his condition was so severe that he had to be transferred to the Intensive Care Unit. Despite the gravity of the situation, he managed to recover and return home, bringing relief to his family and followers.

In May, Shakira will resume her ‘Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour’ in the United States and Canada.

Meanwhile, El Tiempo contacted a source close to the singer to confirm the information about Mebarak’s new hospitalization. Although the source neither confirmed nor denied the reports, they chose not to comment, leaving uncertainty about the current state of the writer.

While taking a break from her world tour, which resumes May 13 in the U.S. and Canada, Shakira has not made any public statements regarding her father’s condition. The artist, known for her close relationship with her family, has been a constant support for William Mebarak during his health struggles.

It’s worth mentioning that Shakira recently enjoyed a leisure moment at the Kaseya Center in Miami, where she attended an NBA playoff game between the Miami Heat and the Cleveland Cavaliers with her eldest son, Milan. The sporting event took place on Saturday, April 26, marking a special day for the Barranquilla singer, who is known for her love of sports.

Dressed casually in a white blouse, jeans, and sneakers, Shakira was captured by cameras as she spoke with Milan, who showed his support for the local team by wearing a Miami Heat jersey.

Upon realizing she was being shown on the arena’s giant screen, the singer smiled and waved to the crowd, showcasing her usual warmth and charisma.

In terms of sports, the night was unfavorable for the home team. Despite the Colombian singer’s presence in the stands, the Miami Heat suffered a tough defeat against the Cleveland Cavaliers, who won with a resounding 87-124 score.

The Cavaliers’ dominance was led by Jarrett Allen’s standout performance, with 21 points and 10 rebounds, guiding his team to their third consecutive win in the series. With this victory, the Cavaliers moved the series to 3-0 in their favor, putting them just one step away from reaching the Eastern Conference semifinals.
