Shakira insists on looking back with gratitude, even when reflecting on deeply painful periods.

“Behind every experience in life, there is always a lesson, and we must be grateful for all the lessons—even for the people who leave us with scars,” the Colombian artist told *People* magazine.

As the ex-partner of Spanish footballer Gerard Piqué prepares for her upcoming World Cup performance—which she will deliver alongside artists such as Madonna and BTS at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford—the singer reflects on the resilience she has cultivated amidst the romantic, legal, and family scandals she has faced in recent years:

“I always thought I was more fragile or weaker than life proved me to be,” she said. The artist also highlighted that there are lessons that “simply make us better people,” and she expressed her admiration for mothers who, regardless of the circumstances, must keep moving forward: “When your world falls apart, you have to get back up, pay the bills, and take your kids to school. Life has to go on.”

While acknowledging the pain, she does not romanticize the journey. “Life is a bitch, but it’s worth living because your friends are there for you,” she concludes.
Currently, the singer is promoting her *Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran* world tour, which returns to the United States on June 13, in addition to her World Cup halftime performance on July 19 in New Jersey, where she will perform the official theme song, “Dai Dai.”
