The Mexico City Health Secretariat (Sedesa) confirmed that nine people have died from a gas pipeline explosion at the Puente de la Concordia in Iztapalapa.

In the list of deaths, published at 11:10 p.m. on Thursday, the agency included the name of Alicia Matías Teodoro, who last Wednesday became a human shield to protect her two-year-old granddaughter from the fire. However, the family denies this version and claims she is still alive.

An hour before the information from the agency was published, Alicia’s family assured the media that she was alive, but in critical condition.
Moments after the list was made public, Milenio stated that relatives sent an audio note in which they claimed that the Sedesa report was false.
