The Guanajuato State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) announced the dismantling of a criminal cell dedicated to extorting merchants in Irapuato, following the conviction of the organization’s final member. Press reports indicate that the group was linked to the Santa Rosa de Lima Cartel.
The ruling concerned Brayan José “N,” identified as the operator responsible for negotiating financial demands with victims; with this conviction, every member of the group has now been prosecuted and sentenced.
The criminal organization operated during January and February 2025, affecting nearly 20 businesses in the municipality of Irapuato. Their modus operandi involved direct threats, the delivery of extortion notes, and armed attacks against establishments whose owners refused to make the demanded payments, posing a systematic threat to local commercial activity.
The evidence gathered was crucial in substantiating the charges and securing the corresponding convictions in court. With the sentencing of Brayan José “N,” the Guanajuato State Attorney General’s Office considers the case closed.
An image shared by authorities shows the arrests of Brayan José “N,” Jesús Ricardo “N,” Yojan Alfredo “N,” Emili Karla Vaneza, Ernesto Ulises “N,” and Rosa María “N.”
“We succeeded in capturing all those responsible and securing key evidence that led to the corresponding convictions,” the FGE Guanajuato stated on its official channels on June 15.
