The tragedy of the October 7, 2023, massacre in Israel has claimed another victim, almost two years after the attack; a survivor took his own life.

Authorities confirmed this Saturday the suicide of Roei Shalev, a young man who managed to survive the disaster that occurred at the Nova Music Festival, one of the main epicenters of the Hamas offensive.

Shalev was wounded by firearms during the attack and also witnessed the murder of his partner, Mepal Adam, at the hands of the military. His death underscores the deep emotional wound that persists among those affected by an attack that left 378 people dead at the festival.

The Nova Tribe Community Association, an NGO dedicated to supporting survivors, mourned the loss and issued a statement that is a cry for help to Israeli society.

“Tragically, many survivors continue to experience profound emotional distress since the events of October 7.”
The organization urged the public and institutions not to forget the trauma that continues to affect young people: “We urge everyone to remain vigilant and deeply sensitive to the mental health of those affected, especially survivors and grieving families.”
