An explosive drone attack was reported near the community of La Tuna, Badiraguato, just meters from the home of Consuelo Loera, mother of Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán, federal sources confirmed.

The device, allegedly loaded with homemade explosives, was reportedly dropped by a rival group seeking control in the Sinaloa mountains. Although no injuries were reported, the explosion caused panic among residents and mobilized security forces present in the area.

According to initial reports, the attack occurred in one of the most heavily guarded and symbolic areas of the so-called Golden Triangle, where clashes and the displacement of families due to violence have been reported in recent months.

The governor of Sinaloa, Rubén Rocha Moya, confirmed on the afternoon of Tuesday, October 28, that there were reports of drones carrying explosives in the mountainous region of Badiraguato.

“There have been drone attacks there, and that’s why we saw a sudden surge in activity, which we have been addressing in Badiraguato and here,” the governor stated during his meeting with the media.

Rocha Moya added that, following operations carried out by federal and state forces, some of these explosive devices were located and seized, although he did not specify the exact location where they were found, nor did he directly address the incident in La Tuna.
