On Saturday, March 7, reports surfaced of former Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador being admitted to a military hospital due to a heart condition, which was subsequently denied.

Federal sources told Infobae Mexico that the report was false, as the former president, also known as AMLO, was not hospitalized.

It should be noted that the former president experienced heart problems and hypertension several years ago, and therefore undergoes regular preventative checkups. This was reported in January 2022 by the Ministry of the Interior (Segob), which detailed that Andrés Manuel López Obrador underwent a cardiac catheterization that month as a preventative measure due to the heart problems he had experienced in previous years.

At that time, it was explained that due to his medical history, he undergoes tests every six months, including electrocardiograms and stress tests or CT scans. Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, the president of Mexico, was questioned by the media about the health of the former president after reports surfaced of his alleged hospitalization.

After concluding the inauguration of a Technological, Industrial, and Services High School in Chimalhuacán, State of Mexico, Sheinbaum denied knowing anything about it.

“No, I don’t know anything. No, I don’t know anything,” the president stated.
