Tourists enjoying their stay in Cancún experienced a moment of terror after witnessing a body, supposedly devoured by sharks, floating on the shores of Chac Mool Beach.
The video, which began circulating Thursday afternoon and shows the exact moment lifeguards pulled the human remains from the sea, immediately went viral on social media.
The skeleton and head that were pulled from the sea are believed to belong to 20-year-old Alejandro Cortez González, a U.S. citizen, who was reported missing a few days ago. To this end, the Quintana Roo State Attorney General’s Office issued a wanted report last Tuesday, detailing that the American’s whereabouts had been unknown since April 20, 2025.
According to various media outlets, Alejandro Cortez was last seen last Sunday after rescuing a drowning friend, but he was unable to get out of the water.
