Although the Tamaulipas Attorney General’s Office reported this Thursday on the discovery of five bodies in Reynosa that could belong to members of Grupo Fugitivo, the families of the missing musicians denied this account.
In a live broadcast on social media, relatives of the victims expressed their anger at the information released by authorities, pointing out that there is no official confirmation and no DNA tests have been performed.
“It’s a lie, they haven’t told us anything. There isn’t even DNA evidence. It’s a lie, please spread the word. The parents are searching and speaking with the Victoria Prosecutor’s Office, and the bodies aren’t ours… they haven’t confirmed anything yet,†stated Claudia M. Lizcano, a relative of one of the missing musicians.
Disappearance of the Fugitive Group
The five members of the norteño group disappeared on Sunday, May 25, while heading to a performance at a private party in Reynosa, Tamaulipas. Since then, family members and fans have demanded greater clarity and speed in the investigation from the authorities.
That same day, posts were shared on social media in which the musicians expressed excitement about a performance in McAllen, Texas, increasing uncertainty about their whereabouts.
The discovery of the bodies was initially reported by the Tamaulipas Security Spokesperson’s Office, stating that they could belong to the missing persons. However, statements from family members directly contradict this version.
The relatives demand that the investigation not be closed without conclusive evidence, such as forensic results.
