Raúl Jiménez explodes: “That’s why they’re taking us to the United States”

It wasn’t the best night for the Mexican National Team, nor for some players like Raúl Jiménez, who, in his role as team leader, defended his teammates from the boos of the fans in Torreón.

It’s common for the National Team players to complain about the lack of support, even though their performance has been unacceptable for years. Nevertheless, they remain convinced that what they’re doing is right, and when the fans complain, they don’t tolerate it.

After the bitter draw against Uruguay, Jiménez went straight for the Mexican fans, widening the rift between the team and its people, just months before the World Cup.

The fans in Torreón didn’t fill the TSM stadium, but they were demanding from the start, especially when they saw that Carlos Acevedo, the goalkeeper for their team, Santos, was relegated to the bench. For this reason, they turned on the goalkeeper on duty, Raúl Tala Rangel.

What’s truly sad is playing at home and being booed, having them yell “Out with Vasco!” and “Faggot!” at the goalkeeper. That’s what’s sad, but oh well, that’s how it is. Maybe that’s why they always take us to the United States.”

In Raúl Jiménez’s particular world, and that of the national team, under the same old excuse, the only problem is a lack of finishing, even though there’s no visible improvement in their performance.

“We’re working with the idea that the entire coaching staff is implementing. I think we did well; we had three chances, but we weren’t sharp enough in front of goal. We have to keep working; we have another important match, and we have to keep our heads up.”
