On the night of Thursday, January 8, Yesenia ‘N’, the private secretary of Carlos Manzo, the murdered former mayor of Uruapan, and of Grecia Quiroz, his widow and current mayor of the municipality located in Michoacán, was arrested.
The municipal official was apprehended following an operation led by the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) at the House of Culture.
Her arrest is related to the murder of Carlos Manzo, the mayor of Uruapan, who was killed on the night of November 1 in the Plaza de los Mártires.
According to the arrest report, Yesenia ‘N’ was arrested at 4:05 p.m. and was turned over to the Michoacán State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), through the Drug Trafficking Investigation and Prosecution Unit.
Some media outlets have learned that Yesenia ‘N’ has a close relationship with members of a political team with whom Manzo Rodríguez had conflicts.
According to initial reports, the former official allegedly documented the mayor’s activities minute by minute, including private meetings and official trips.
Just yesterday, Grecia Quiroz shared images on her social media of a meeting with the state Secretary of Tourism, Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, in which Yesenia is identified in the same room. “I stand with the honest and hardworking people, and we will move forward as a municipality,” the post read.
As recently as last month, Yesenia was sharing messages of mourning for the murder of Carlos Manzo.
“Loyalty does not depend on circumstances because it is the permanence of principles. Carlos Manzo was the best mayor of Uruapan, and let the dogs keep barking, it’s a sign that we are moving forward,” she wrote on December 22.
