The FBI is increasingly closer to Ryan James Wedding, the former Olympic athlete turned drug trafficker who is now a protégé of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) and the Sinaloa Cartel.
Now, US authorities, who consider him one of the 10 most wanted men in the world, have set their sights on Mexico City and the State of Mexico, where he may currently be located. This is happening through a social media campaign that will allow people living in the area to find his file in Spanish, with the goal of obtaining information that will lead to his capture.
At the end of July, the FBI launched a new campaign to track down Ryan James Wedding, “The Giant,” who is accused of jointly running a criminal enterprise and trafficking cocaine and other synthetic drugs through a network that originates in Colombia, passes through Baja California, and extends to the United States and Canada.
FBI agents told Canada’s CBC that “there are potentially people in that area who have information about his whereabouts.”
Although they did not admit whether they believe Ryan James Wedding could be in Mexico City or the State of Mexico, authorities told the Canadian website that “it’s clear why we’ve focused our efforts there.”
While it has been known for some time that Ryan James Wedding is in Mexico, some clues that he may be living in the nation’s capital or the State of Mexico include the following:
In January of last year, Ryan James Wedding and one of his key allies, Andrew Clark, met with an FBI informant who was working undercover at a Starbucks in Mexico City.
In addition, there is another photo circulating on his wanted list showing him wearing a blue Los Angeles Dodgers cap. This photo was reportedly taken at the Santa Fe Shopping Center, west of Mexico City.
With this new search, the FBI hopes to uncover more contacts that could lead to Ryan James Wedding, who, along with his criminal network, is accused of a series of murders in addition to drug trafficking.
