On September 30, a complaint was filed against Omar “N,” a former Chivas soccer player and one of the most iconic figures in the history of the team now led by Amaury Vergara.
Juan Soltero, the victim’s lawyer, stated in an interview with journalist Ahtziri Cárdenas that it was the minor’s boyfriend—who is now 17 years old—who asked her to confess to the abuse she was suffering at the hands of Omar.
The same legal representative confirmed that the former Atletico forward is the romantic partner of the victim’s mother and that they lived at the same address, one of the reasons why child sexual abuse is classified as aggravated.
It was on October 5th, at 6:30 p.m., when Omar “N” was arrested and taken before the Public Ministry to be informed of the reasons for his detention and the reasons for his future investigation, in what is known as an arraignment hearing.
After seeking legal advice and representation, both Omar “N”‘s victim and her mother described to attorney Juan Soltero how the abuse by the former player had occurred, which began “about 6 or 7 years ago.” The attorney informed the journalist that it was the minor’s boyfriend who asked her to confess the abuse to her mother, as she must have known everything she had been going through for several years.
Soltero stated that the victim’s mother is Omar’s “partner”: “They have been together for several years. The woman has three daughters who are not Omar’s, but rather from her previous partner; Omar is not the father.”
She further described that the abuse allegedly began when the victim was 10 years old. They “tell me up until that point that she had been living with him for about 7 or 8 years and that the soccer player had been doing this behavior for 6 or 7 years. She (the mother) points out to me—in fact, the minor came as well—and explains to me and my partner, attorney Diana Santana, that the now-defendant constantly groped the minor, and she tells us that this had been going on for 6 or 7 years. This touching occurred under her clothing, without reaching sexual intercourse.”
