The Sinaloa-based group Novillos de la Sierra performed corridos in honor of Fausto Isidro Meza Flores, “El Chapo Isidro,” and Jesús Omar Ibarra Félix, “El Chuta,” two of the most wanted criminals by the United States government, during the Sinaloa de Leyva Carnival.

On the night of March 14, before an estimated crowd of 120,000 attendees throughout the festivities, Novillos de la Sierra took the stage and performed two songs about two drug traffickers, both of whom are currently wanted by authorities.

The songs, “El Chapo Isidro” and “Desde el Topo hasta la Sierra” (From El Topo to the Sierra), were performed without restriction or warning from the organizers, despite the recent accusations against these individuals.

The lyrics of the corrido dedicated to “El Chapo Isidro” describe his territorial control in Los Mochis and Guasave, the strength of his alliances, the growth of his organization, and the importance of intelligence over violence. The song also highlights the unity between groups and the preference for collaboration over conflict, with lines like: “Why be enemies if it doesn’t bring in money? It’s better to be united, as the president said.”

Meanwhile, the corrido dedicated to “El Chuta” presents him as the head of security and armed wing of Los Chapitos, under the direct orders of Iván Archivaldo. The lyrics emphasize his leadership over more than 800 men identified as FECH (El Chuta’s Special Forces), deployed from Topolobampo to the mountains. The song refers to operations and clashes with federal forces, the organization of lookout points, and the group’s armed response capabilities.
