An intense controversy has erupted on social media following a video showing Naomi Sofía Figueroa Álvarez, a Guadalajara government official, explicitly describing an act that many have interpreted as an animal sacrifice for esoteric purposes.

The video, shared on TikTok and the X social media platform, has raised alarm bells and sparked a wave of outrage.

In the video, Figueroa Álvarez, who works as a specialized collaborator at the Directorate of Beehives and Community Care Centers (attached to the General Coordination of Community Building), describes in detail and with gestures a practice that, in her own words, would involve the death of a dog.

The purpose of this act, according to her confession, was to “eliminate enemies.” In the video, the official admits: “So, this was so they’d get rid of my enemies, dude; so they’re all going to fall, they’re all going to fall, so they can keep playing the game…”

The information available on the Guadalajara City Council payroll reveals that Figueroa Álvarez was discharged on March 18 of this year and receives a gross monthly salary of 18,400 pesos, which includes food and transportation benefits.

The scandal has been amplified by the revelations of the official’s family history. Naomi Sofía is the daughter of Susana Priscila Álvarez Hernández, who was director of the Municipal Institute for Youth Care (IMAJ).

Álvarez Hernández was once sanctioned for administrative irregularities during her tenure and currently holds a position in the state government with a salary exceeding 50,000 pesos per month.

Figueroa Álvarez’s situation could have serious legal implications, as Article 306 of the Jalisco State Penal Code establishes penalties of up to five years in prison and significant fines for those who commit acts of abuse or cruelty that result in the death of an animal. If the events described by the official are proven to constitute a crime, she could face prosecution under this law.
