It was through an audio message that Kevin Díaz Montes de Oca, 19, was able to communicate with his mother, Coral, and share his exact location after a gas pipeline explosion at the Puente de la Concordia on the border between Iztapalapa and Chalco on Wednesday, September 10.
In the audio, which has been shared on various digital platforms such as Facebook and Twitter, the young man can be heard informing his family about the injuries he suffered to various parts of his body. Furthermore, with a tone of concern and fear, he asked his loved ones to protect one another.
In an interview given by Coral Montes de Oca to Telediario Mexico City outside the Emiliano Zapata Hospital, she explained that her son is in stable condition and is in good health. However, due to the burns he suffered on his face, he needed to be transferred to a specialized unit.
“He is stable and in good condition, but they told me he needs to be transported due to his injuries. I found out what happened because Kevin sent us a message telling us his location and where he was being taken,” Coral told the outlet.
