Molly was trembling—but with excitement. Sitting in her wheelchair, wearing the Colombian National Team jersey and the red tracksuit of Valle del Cauca—the department where she was born—the young girl couldn’t stop smiling as she gazed intently at James Rodríguez.
Then, pulling a bracelet featuring the colors yellow, blue, and red from a small black bag she was holding, she handed it to the *Tricolor* captain right at the national team’s training camp in Mexico. A dream come true.
Molly lives with cerebral palsy and suffers from seizures, but this has not stopped her from fighting—with the help of her loved ones—to achieve her goals.
Thanks to her manual dexterity, she began making “good luck” bracelets—as she calls them—for every player and coaching staff member of the national team present at the World Cup.
Her story of resilience is so inspiring that it touched the hearts of the *Tricolor* squad in Guadalajara, Mexico, where she was welcomed by James Rodríguez himself.
Four days ago, following the victorious debut of the team managed by Néstor Lorenzo against Uzbekistan (3–1), Molly’s father, Jairo Bustamante, shared the big news with his daughter: they would travel to North America so she could personally hand the charms she designs to Rodríguez.
This Monday, after arriving on Mexican soil, Molly saw her wish come true. A moved James immediately put the bracelet on his right hand after sharing an emotional hug with the girl from Valle del Cauca. “It’s a pleasure to meet you,” the ‘10’ told her.
“It’s for good luck, so you win the final,” Molly said as she handed over the gift intended for him and his teammates. “I feel so happy to be fulfilling my dreams,” the young girl added.
