After it came to light that Governor Rubén Rocha Moya—currently on leave—along with three active officials and six others who served in his administration, are allegedly facing accusations from the U.S. Department of Justice regarding suspected ties to a faction of the Sinaloa Cartel, speculation concerning investigations into other members of the MORENA party has begun circulating on social media and in certain media outlets.
On the afternoon of May 5, following the publication of the following message by Mario Di Costanzo—spokesperson for the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI)—the Ministry of the Interior (Segob) issued a statement regarding the matter:
“BREAKING NEWS: Today, the head of the Ministry of the Interior informed Mario Delgado and Adán López that they are under investigation in the U.S., and the National Banking and Securities Commission has requested information regarding their financial transactions from banking institutions.”
In a comment, the Ministry of the Interior refuted this report with a brief statement: “The Ministry of the Interior clarifies: THIS INFORMATION IS FALSE.”
