Michoacán confirms that Víctor Manuel, Carlos Manzo’s killer, was only 17 years old

The Michoacán State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) reported this Thursday that it has confirmed the identity of the perpetrator of the murder of Uruapan Mayor Carlos Manzo: he is a 17-year-old resident of the municipality of Paracho, Víctor Manuel Ubaldo Vidales. Authorities also emphasized that “more than two people” participated in the homicide and that it is related “to organized crime groups.”

“On the afternoon of November 5, the body of the perpetrator of this homicide was identified and claimed. He is Víctor Manuel Ubaldo Vidales, 17 years old, originally from and residing in the municipality of Paracho, Michoacán,” reported the state Attorney General, Carlos Torres Piña, in a video posted on social media.

“Víctor Manuel’s family acknowledged that he had left home a week before the incident. His identification allows us to continue advancing this investigation, considering its context and any other possible participants. It is important to reiterate that the forensic examination of the body confirms the hypothesis of his involvement in the crime, as well as his methamphetamine addiction, information corroborated by his family,” he added.

Víctor Manuel’s body was released to his family for burial.
