The Mexican Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP), through its Financial Intelligence Unit (UIF) and in coordination with U.S. authorities, announced that it has strengthened its efforts against a fraud network related to the notorious timeshare schemes, allegedly linked to the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), according to a statement issued on February 19.
As part of these measures, the U.S. Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) designated 24 individuals for their alleged involvement in the scheme. Of these, five are individuals and 19 are legal entities that allegedly operated through fraud related to tourism services, with possible ties to the criminal organization.
Additionally, the SHCP, through the UIF, added seven more individuals to the List of Blocked Persons. Among them are six individuals and one entity, identified as part of the operational, family and corporate core detected during the development of the financial investigations.
