Beloved Baja California musicians lose vital gear in terrifying highway robbery after Texcoco show.

What was supposed to be a night full of music for the Mexican band Insite turned into a terrifying nightmare, after the group was ambushed by organized crime.

The musicians, originally from Baja California, reported on social media that they were attacked by criminal elements shortly after performing a show in Texcoco.

According to a statement released on Saturday, the incident occurred late Friday night while the band and their crew were traveling on the highway toward Mexico City.

Fortunately, the situation did not escalate further. After confirming that no one was physically harmed, the band announced that they would postpone their concert scheduled for that night in Morelia, as they had been stripped of their essential work equipment.

“We’re all okay and the damage was only material, but the losses directly impact our ability to operate, as this was essential gear for our work. Undoubtedly, this is a major blow to our band,” they wrote.

In the wake of the incident, Insite launched a fundraising campaign, asking fans to help them recover their equipment.

“To everyone who listens to our music: we will be opening a GoFundMe page for those who can and want to help us cover the necessary expenses and replace our gear.”

The band also expressed sorrow over the growing insecurity in the country, pointing out that they are not alone in experiencing such threats. Just days earlier, Los Ángeles Azules were also assaulted on the road.

“It’s very sad to realize the deplorable state of security in our country, and even sadder to experience it firsthand. What we felt yesterday was, without a doubt, terror,” they added.

Despite the fear and uncertainty, Insite closed the statement by thanking those who have supported them during this difficult time.

“Thanks to our families and friends, who have supported us since last night,” they concluded.

The band has not released further details about the attack, and it is unclear whether authorities are investigating the case.

Other Bands Recently Affected by Crime:

  • Los Ángeles Azules: As mentioned in the article, the legendary cumbia group was also assaulted while traveling on the road in Mexico just days before the Insite incident.
  • Molotov: The iconic Mexican rock band was robbed of equipment during a tour stop in Oaxaca, forcing them to cancel a performance.
  • Cartel de Santa: The rap-rock group reported an attempted robbery while traveling between venues in northern Mexico.
  • Grupo Firme: The popular regional Mexican band faced extortion threats before a major concert in Tijuana, leading to heightened security.

These incidents reflect a troubling trend of musical artists and touring professionals being targeted by organized crime or banditry, especially while traveling between shows in certain regions. Many in the music community have called for better protections and accountability.
