Carlos Manzo, mayor of the municipality of Uruapan, Michoacán, announced the arrest of the man identified as the alleged cartel boss of the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel (CJNG) in the region, and requested the support of the Armed Forces and federal security forces.
Through his social media, the mayor confirmed that a red alert has been activated in the municipality due to ongoing operations for the arrest of René Belmontes, alias “El Rino” or “El Chamuco,” identified as a source of violence in the region.
Manzo explained that there have been reports of armed individuals attempting to enter the municipality, and therefore asked the population not to leave their homes.
“We request support from the Government of the Republic, Secretary Omar García Harfuch, the Sedena (National Security Forces), the Navy, and the National Guard. Just now, the Municipal Police arrested two individuals, one of whom is identified as the criminal leader of the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel. This is already being handled by the Attorney General’s Office, so we ask for all your support,” the mayor requested.
“El Vicentillo” has reportedly already visited “El Mayo” Zambada in prison, according to Anabel Hernández
