In the assassination of Luis Donaldo Colosio, there were two shots fired, but neither was fired by Mario Aburto, said his lawyer, Jesús González Schmal, this Monday, November 10.
The lawyer reacted this way to the arrest of Jorge Antonio Sánchez, a former agent of the Cisen (National Security and Investigation Center), who is identified as the alleged second shooter in the assassination that occurred in Lomas Taurinas, Tijuana.
“Sánchez Ortega was a prominent member (of Cisen), and it seems to me that he was truly directing the conspiracy that was hatched that day in Tijuana,” he asserted in an interview with Azucena Uresti.
González Schmal recalled that, according to Mario Aburto’s testimony, there were two shots fired, one of them by an alleged hitman known as “El Ruco,” who was himself killed on March 24, 1994, at an auto repair shop in Tijuana.
“This makes us optimistic that Mexico can heal a wound that remains, from a political standpoint, profoundly significant,” he added.
