The Ring Royale 2026 event at Arena Monterrey delivered more than just punches in the ring. Minutes before the main event bout between Alfredo Adame and Carlos Trejo, singer Luis R. Conriquez took the stage to perform several *corridos*—ballads that allude to figures in the drug trade—a moment that quickly sparked controversy on social media.

After taking the stage at Arena Monterrey, Luis R. Conriquez performed several tracks from his repertoire, including *Mexicano Soy* and other popular *corridos* that were sung in unison by the crowd. However, the spotlight focused most intensely on *Presidente* and *Triple Lavada*—songs known for their references to figures within the drug trafficking world.

The first of these tracks includes mentions of Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, alias “El Mencho,” the historic leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG)—who, it is worth recalling, was killed this past February 22 during an operation in Tapalpa, Jalisco. Meanwhile, the second track alludes to “Los Chapitos,” the collective name given to the sons of Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán Loera.
