Los Chavalitos, corrido singers, are left without a visa to work in the United States

Regional Mexican music continues to struggle in the United States. Although there are groups and solo artists who are quite popular in the United States, the government has decided to eliminate their work visas. Such is the case with Los Chavalitos, who are now left without the opportunity to perform.

The famous regional Mexican music group from Sinaloa has corridos in its repertoire and other well-known songs throughout its career. Additionally, they have more than 2 million monthly listeners on Spotify, while their Instagram followers reach 140,000, confirming that their popularity is growing.

It was Javier Ceriani who, on his YouTube podcast, confirmed the news that Los Chavalitos are part of a series of singers like Javier Rosas, Natanael Cano, Lorenzo de Monteclaro, Julión Álvarez, and other regional Mexican stars who are having trouble entering or working in the United States, resulting in their visas being denied or canceled.

The host says that for these types of groups, which are new, since they were founded in 2022, it’s very unusual for their visas to be canceled. He also added that the decision taken by the authorities may be due to malpractice on the part of the managers or lawyers in charge of this type of process.

However, it could also be due to the investigations being conducted by the American government into regional Mexican music artists and corrido performers who are linked to illicit figures or activities, since it is known that these celebrities’ repertoire includes several corridos that glorify crime.
