President Claudia Sheinbaum called on Mexicans in the United States not to fall for provocations and to demonstrate peacefully.
At her morning press conference, the federal leader said that some of what happened in Los Angeles seemed more like acts of provocation than a way of protesting the raids that took place over the weekend. She emphasized that she does not agree with violent protests.
“The Mexican government reiterates its unwavering commitment to the protection and defense of the human rights of Mexicans abroad, regardless of their immigration status. In this regard, we make a respectful but firm call to the U.S. authorities to ensure that all immigration procedures are carried out in accordance with due process within a framework of respect for human dignity and the rule of law,” she said.
