Banco Plata confirmed that Los Ángeles Azules will be the special guests at the concert featuring Italian singer Andrea Bocelli, scheduled for Saturday, April 18, in Mexico City’s Zócalo, the financial firm reported.

Just two weeks ago, the Mexico City Government and Banco Plata—as part of the celebrations marking the latter’s transition into a full-fledged bank—announced the Italian tenor’s arrival to perform a free concert in the Mexican capital’s Historic Center.

What already promised to be a concert quite unlike those the Zócalo is accustomed to hosting has now become one of the most highly anticipated nights of the year, as two completely distinct genres—opera and cumbia—are set to share the stage.

“What would ‘Vivo Por Ella’ sound like as a cumbia?” mused the @ÁngelesAzulesmx account after @BancoPlata posed the open question: “Which artist will take the stage with Andrea Bocelli this April 18th?”

Later, Banco Plata made it official by sharing the event’s official poster, which confirms the participation of Los Ángeles Azules, Ximena Sariñana, and the Minería Symphony Orchestra.

“At Banco Plata, we are delighted to share a unique evening with thousands of Mexicans in such an iconic venue as the Zócalo,” said Andrea Vidales, Director of Marketing and Communications at Plata.

To further elevate this unprecedented celebration, Banco Plata announced that 7,000 open-access seats will be set up on the Zócalo esplanade, available on a first-come, first-served basis.
