Rarámuri runner Lorena Ramírez once again proved that her endurance knows no bounds. In the Hong Kong 100 Ultramarathon, one of the most demanding races on the planet, the Mexican athlete set a personal record by completing the 100 kilometers in 22 hours, 24 minutes, and 10 seconds.

Her achievement is all the more remarkable considering she faced freezing temperatures, intense humidity, and a headlamp failure that forced her to run several sections without light.

Beyond her final position of 359th overall, Lorena’s true triumph lay in her ability to overcome adversity and reaffirm her cultural identity on an international stage.

Dressed in her traditional attire and huaraches (sandals), the runner from the Sierra Tarahumara became a symbol of resilience and pride, inspiring both her community and the thousands of spectators who cheered her as she crossed the finish line.
