Amid the controversy surrounding the video recorded by YouTuber Mr. Beast at Chichén Itzá and Calakmul, Campeche Governor Layda Sansores thanked the content creator for his visit to the state and clarified that he acted respectfully and responsibly at the archaeological site at all times.

On social media, the Morena party member insisted that all permits were processed and authorized by the National Institute of Anthropology and History, while also indicating that the Campeche government was present during filming.

“If there is any disagreement on the part of the Ministry of Culture, we ask that they direct their concerns to the Campeche state government, as we assume the responsibility of showing the world the cultural and natural wealth that defines us,” she commented.

Since the Mexican Government’s Ministry of Culture intends to sue the YouTube channel Mr. Beast, Morena member Layda Sansores lamented this situation, insisting that the video was edited with special effects to make it more appealing to audiences.

“I’m surprised that, on the other hand, the Ministry of Culture wants to sanction a production for its adaptations for an international youth and children’s audience. These adaptations do not violate current law and do not endanger the national archaeological heritage,” she emphasized.
