Lady Racista: Racism Within Mexican Society

“I hate black people like you,” Lady Racista was captured attacking a police officer during a traffic conflict in Mexico City

In recent days, the streets of Mexico City have been a scene of tension and social division, evidenced by the serious verbal attacks a woman committed against a member of the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) due to a traffic conflict in a neighborhood of the Cuauhtémoc borough.

The woman’s video soon went viral on digital platforms for hurling racist insults at the traffic officer, who was doing his job and giving directions to the driver of a silver Mercedes-Benz CLS 500.

The woman’s strong statements earned her the nickname “Lady Racista” on social media, prompting users to seek the identity of the approximately 40-year-old woman, who expressed her hatred of people with dark skin after a simple traffic disagreement.

Videos leaked by the media have revealed that the traffic officer attempted to plant a spider on the vehicle for allegedly not paying the parking meter, which sparked a heated argument. After intimidating the traffic officer, who simply recorded the incident with his cell phone, the woman got into her vehicle, where two of her pets and her supposed son were in the back.

The events have gained greater relevance in the public debate after protesters took to the streets to demand an end to the effects of gentrification in neighborhoods of the Cuauhtémoc borough last Friday, July 4th. Among the banners, it was claimed that foreigners were expressing their love for Mexico and their contempt for Mexicans, without mentioning the economic consequences of the massive influx of foreigners to Mexico City.
