The arrest of 38 people linked to La Luz del Mundo’s internal security force at a training camp in Vista Hermosa, Michoacán, has begun to reveal the alleged alliance this church has with the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG).

Jesús Lemus Barajas, journalist and expert on organized crime, revealed in the Narmundo podcast, which he shares with journalist José Luis Montenegro, that this alliance not only represents a network of benefits for both organizations, but may also be behind forced displacement in Chiapas.

In recent months, residents of that state have begun to move to Guatemala due to the violence generated by criminal groups in the Comalapa Border region.

According to the Guatemalan Migration Institute (IGM), as of September 26, 112 residence permit renewals had been granted to Mexicans for humanitarian reasons, in addition to the 248 residence permit renewals also requested by fellow citizens for the same reasons.
