A group of environmentalists protested inside the venue where negotiations are taking place at COP30, the United Nations climate summit, in Belém, demanding a “just” energy transition with shouts and dances.

The activists gathered in the main corridor of the so-called Blue Zone, administered by the UN and the area where approximately 43,000 people from delegations representing 170 countries are negotiating at this climate conference, located at the gateway to the Brazilian Amazon.

The Indigenous protesters marched for climate and health in the city and, as night fell, ended up dancing in front of the venue.

Some of them entered the venue, but security agents prevented them from entering, while some resisted, according to images obtained by AFP. Calm was quickly restored.
