In Reynosa, Candelario Decapitated His Partner, Lorenia, Out of Jealousy; He Walked with Her Head and Placed It on the Bar Counter

Last Friday in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, at 12:30 PM, Candelario—in a fit of jealousy—began arguing with his partner, 30-year-old Lorenia, at their workplace. He was a cook and she was a waitress at the restaurant *La Gallina Dorada*.

At one point, the argument escalated; the subject ruthlessly decapitated Lorenia, walked with her severed head in his hand, and placed it on the restaurant’s bar counter, leaving her body behind in the kitchen area. [News: Drug Trafficking]

Following the attack, the terrified employees of the establishment called upon authorities for assistance. When officers arrived, the killer attempted to attack members of the State Guard and agents from the Prosecutor’s Office with a bladed weapon. The initial hearing against Candelario was held virtually on Sunday, as the defendant remains hospitalized at the General Hospital under heavy police guard.

According to official information, the subject faces charges of femicide, as well as attempted assault against security personnel. As a result, he could face between 40 and 60 years behind bars—in addition to being ordered to pay a substantial sum in restitution for damages—following the events that took place at the restaurant in the Rodríguez neighborhood.
